7 at-home beauty tools to boost your skin

I am sure you have getting that healthy glowing skin somewhere on your goals list, lady. What’s stopping you?

Regardless of the reason why your skin doesn’t look its best now, there is always an extra small step out there to help you shift that.

Everyone knows, eat right and use a proper skincare routine to care for your skin, and you are done. But sadly, sometimes, this alone isn’t enough.

Your skin gets exposed to many damaging factors and chemicals every day, and you need to consider this.  Oh, and it doesnโ€™t need to be complicated as well.

All you need is an extra 10 to 20 minutes a day or a week! It depends on your schedule.

This is why I will include in this post some of the best must-have beauty tools that will reverse your skin health and give you long-lasting effects. So let’s have a look at these at-home beauty tools:

1. Face steamer

Face streamers are recommended to people who have oily and acne-prone skin. Exposing your face to the steam will help your skin in two ways.

Firstly, when the heat of the steam penetrates deep into your pores, it softens any build-up sebum that might be clogging your pores, which will make it easier for you to deep clean your pores. Secondly, when your face temperature increases moderately, you get better blood circulation which means more nutrients delivered to your skin cells and more collagen production.

Keep your hair away and place your face a few inches from the device. Make sure the device is clean before using and not to steam for more than 6 minutes once per week.

Face steaming is safe for most people of all skin types. However, people with very sensitive skin, rosacea, active stages of acne, eczema and, seborrheic dermatitis should avoid it.

2. Face washing brush

This is another skin-care tool to deep clean your pores. Glowing skin starts with clean skin. Using a face brush as part of your skin-care routine will help you get this flawless skin you aim for in a short time.

Benefits of using a Facial brush:

  • Deep cleaning
  • Gentle exfoliation
  • Gentle massage
  • Reduce breakout potential
  • Better skin-care products penetration

There are two types of facial brushes; silicon and bristle. Silicon brushes are gentle, live longer, and are antimicrobial. So it is better to invest in a silicone face brush suitable for your skin type.

If you have active acne or inflamed skin, you must stay away from using a facial brush.

3. Ice roller

The ice roller is a handy skin-care tool; it is gentle on the skin but gives immediate results. It is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin.

The many benefits that come with adding an ice roller to your daily skin-care routine include better circulation, less puffy eyes, and a more defined face look.

It is amazing for reducing dark circles and lowering any skin inflammation. And it can be used on the face, neck, or any other part of the body.

For best results, keep the ice roller in the freezer. Start rolling the tool in an upward motion on areas of your skin where you feel it needs care. You get to control your session’s length, but ideally, keep them between 5 to 15 minutes each.

People with very sensitive skin and acne shouldn’t use ice rollers.

4. Jade roller

In addition to being a soothing part of any skin-care routine, crystal rollers have many benefits. It improves circulation, relieves puffiness, and enhances the natural skin detoxification process.

All you need is to gently roll the jade roller in both up and down and sidewards directions. Just be careful while you are massaging the round-eye area and be extra gentle with it.

You can use the roller on its own or after adding your skin-care products for deep penetration.

5. Dry brush

This skin tool might help you to change your skin as well as your health! Adding dry brushing to your daily routine is a great self-care practice. While you are dry brushing, you are gently exfoliating your dead skin cells and stimulating your skin to produce more collagen. It also helps to get a better skin texture and improve cellulite appearance.

All you need is a natural-derived dry brush and 5 to 10 minutes a day before you shower. Dry brush your body starting from your feet and move upward towards the heart; don’t go back and forth or in a circular motion.

6. Derma roller

A derma roller is a skin tool that depends mainly on tiny needles to do its main purpose. These tiny needles are used gently to generate small holes in the outer surface of the skin. This action gives the skin a sign to start healing those injuries.

The skin, as a result, starts producing more collagen, which results in a more skin glow and reduced wrinkles and scars.

There is no need to see a professional to use a derma roller as long as the needles’ length is no longer than 1 mm; longer needles are used for more in-depth conditions like stretch marks and cellulite and are managed by a professional.

Derma rolling is safe and comes with no side effects. People with any inflammatory skin condition like acne, rosacea, or sensitive skin should avoid derma rolling.

7. LED light therapy mask

The way at-home LED light therapy masks work is very simple yet effective. When applied to the skin, the light bulbs emit different colored lights, each with a certain wavelength. These wavelengths go through the skin on a cellular level and cause healing effects. Each color is used to address a certain skin condition.

Red color: soothe wrinkles and increase collagen production for younger-looking skin.

Blue color: helps to kill acne-causing bacteria.

Green color: balances skin complexion.

Yellow color: lower skin redness and inflammation. Good for conditions like rosacea.

Orange color: helps with dull skin and gives the skin a natural glow.

Make sure to pick a quality light therapy mask. Light therapy is very safe as long as you wear goggles to protect your eyes from the concentrated direct light.
